Get set for the heart-pounding, adrenaline-soaked, explosive new film season Art of Action, coming to DCA this November.

Part of BFI's Art of Action, a UK-wide film season celebrating high-octane cinema, we're bringing a wide-ranging selection of the best-ever action titles to our screens, including new 4K restorations of Point Break and Seven Samurai; vintage trailblazers The Adventures of Robin Hood, and The Wild Bunch, Hong Kong martial arts thriller Yes, Madam and lots more.

Each film in the season will include an expert introduction, and there'll be a chance to take part in discussions and workshops that explore the skills and experiences of actors and stuntpeople who have risked their lives to create some of cinema's most memorable action moments.

Cinema Programme Assistant Michael Coull, who programmed DCA's Art of Action season, says

"We’re so excited to share our Art of Action season with you, celebrating the best in action cinema from as far back as 1929 to almost the present day.

Far from simply  blockbuster fodder, our thrilling season will display the artistry and creativity of some of the greatest action films ever made. We will showcase the breadth of what the action film can be, taking in key moments from film history; from silent film to spectacular archery skills in The Adventures of Robin Hood, from Akira Kurosawa’s ground-breaking epic Seven Samurai through one of Michelle Yeoh’s early roles in ‘80s Hong Kong in Yes, Madam and beyond."
