Media Studies Day
This year we will once again offer a day of behind-the-scenes access in the film industry and are planning a day of film-related activity for students currently studying film and/or media at upper secondary level.
The day will be led by an education professional who will introduce the film Once Upon a Time in a Forest and ensure participants can use the film as unique material for their future exam commitments at both Nat 5 and Higher levels. In addition, we will be joined by Magda Kowalczyk, a Scottish-based cinematographer to talk about her experience in the film industry in connection with the film screening. Magda Kowalczyk’s recent work includes Kevin MacDonald’s High & Low: John Galliano (2024) and Andrea Arnold’s Cow (2021). This industry guest talk will be led by the Scottish Documentary Institute (SDI), which supports documentary filmmakers based in Scotland. The SDI produces many short films each year as part of their Bridging the Gap training initiative, giving emerging filmmakers the chance to get a foot on the industry ladder.
Please register your interest via this form and we will maintain individual contact with them as the festival approaches with any and all updates concerning the event. Please note this event is aimed at Senior Phase students, and we are unable to provide subsidised transport.
In partnership with the Scottish Documentary Institute.
