Discovery Film Festival Short Films

Book a curated selection of the best short films for young people to screen at your venue.

Tried and tested shorts packages for families, now available to book.

Discovery Film Festival has launched its popular short film packages, showcasing the very best short films from around the world for audiences aged 3+ and 8+. 

As well as shorts from last year’s festival, we have packages combining the most popular shorts from the festival’s 20-year history – including Shorts for Wee Ones (age 3+) and Shorts for Middle Ones (age 8+). A perfect introduction to the magic of cinema, these packages are available to cinemas, arts venues, film clubs and societies, and offer an excellent way to engage family audiences.

Free quad posters for venues, workshop templates and teachers’ resource packs are available to accompany these film packages, with arts and crafts activities which can be carried out at your venue by an art worker of your choice, or in the classroom by teachers.

Shorts for Wee Ones 2023

We know it’s not just the youngest age group that enjoys these films, but we do seek out the best examples of films from around the world that will appeal most to those at the start of their engagement with film. Who needs a spoken language to tell a story when they are as visual as these are? 

Sheep, sunflowers, bears, magical rocks, giant turnips, a basketball-playing T-Rex and a rockpool full of marvellous undersea creatures all invite us into their worlds for a whole host of adventures!

Shorts for Middle Ones 2023

This annual collection of short films for those aged eight and above is always a mix of animation styles and content that promises something for everyone. 

Sometimes chaotic, sometimes very serious, there is no predicting where we will head next. Variety is the key, and no two films will feel or look the same.

  • Short film packages are £75.00 + VAT per screening, £100.00 + VAT for two screenings (either SWO&SMO 2023 or both Greatest Hits) or £100 MG vs 35% for multiple screenings.
  • Discovery Film Festival will cover carriage costs for the films out to your screening site; return costs to be paid for by the venue.
  • Packages are available for screenings between Mon 06 November 2023 and Sat 20 October 2024.
  • You must include the Discovery Film Festival logo, strapline and website address beside all listings and advertising in print and online (logos will be provided once bookings are confirmed). Please note: the Greatest Hits collections are part-funded by Film Hub Scotland so additional requirements will be place. Full details on booking.
