Learn how to use aquatinting techniques to create tonal prints.

This three-evening course teaches you how to apply hand painted tonal marks to metal etching plates, demonstrating how to create layers of tone to illuminate your drawn etched lines. 

An ideal follow up class for those who have already completed Introduction to Etching, or for artists wanting to refresh their intaglio skills.

Need to know

  • What to bring

We provide everything you'll need, just bring yourself. You are welcome to bring along any inspiration, images or sketchbooks to work from.

 

  • What to wear

We'll provide aprons and gloves but recommend wearing old clothes as printmaking can be messy. Please note that open-toed footwear and sandals are not allowed.

 

  • Food & drinks

A sealed water flask or drinking vessel is permitted but other food and drinks are not allowed in the studio.

Bruce Shaw

Bruce graduated in 2009 from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art Dundee with a BA/Hons in Fine Art. He now works as a self employed artist from Wasps Studios in’Dundee, focusing his practice on printmaking and drawing. He also facilitates workshops within the community.
