Bring a feather and use it to create an edition of beautiful prints.
Whether you have some knowledge of etching or you’re a complete beginner, this is lo-fi method of printmaking is fun and creates great results. You will learn how to prepare small zinc plates for the soft ground etching technique and then use it to create feather prints with a variety of deckled edged papers, inks and ‘Chine Colle’.

Need to know
- What to bring
Bring along a feather that is between 2cm to 10cm in length.
- What to wear
We'll provide aprons and gloves but recommend wearing old cloths as printmaking can be messy. Please note that open-toed footwear and sandals are not allowed.
- Food & drinks
A sealed water flask or drinking vessel is permitted but other food and drinks are not allowed in the studio.
Meet your tutor

Bruce Shaw
Bruce graduated in 2009 from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art Dundee with a BA/Hons in Fine Art. He now works as a self employed artist from Wasps Studios in’Dundee, focusing his practice on printmaking and drawing. He also facilitates workshops within the community.
