Julie Christie voices the evil Queen, Toby Jones voices the prince, and Stacy Martin voices Snow White in this alternative adaptation of Robert Walser’s disenchanted fairytale.
Directed by artist Stanley Schtinter and shot by cinematographer Sean Price Williams (Good Time, The Sweet East), Schneewittchen is a predominantly sound-based work which largely consists of a black screen, intermittently punctuated by fleeting images of clouds. A parable for our post-truth times, the film provokes reflection on the ontology of a tale as it travels across languages, mediums, geographies and eras.
This is a rare chance to experience this anti-spectacle spectacle on the big screen.
