In the late 1970s, British inventor Sir Clive Sinclair had a vision of creating an affordable home computer that could change the world.
In 1982 he released the ZX Spectrum home computer, selling millions of units worldwide and quickly becoming one of the most important technological developments of its time, opening the door to a world of possibilities for millions of people. The ZX Spectrum's accessibility meant many people learned to programme and create their own games, kicking off the British video game industry in the 80s.
The Rubber Keyed Wonder tells the story of the creation of the ZX Spectrum, the success it brought Sinclair and the impact it had through the various versions of the computer that followed. This fascinating documentary also covers the stunning array of games that were developed on the Spectrum including Jet Set Willy, Knightlore, Chuckie Egg, Ant Attack, Saboteur and more.
This highly nostalgic film features, rare archive footage combined with newly shot interviews with the original ZX Spectrum's designers, Sir Clive’s son and nephew as well as some of the Spectrum's greatest game developers from its heyday, all sharing their memories of the extraordinary rise of the ZX Spectrum.
Whether you’re a fan of the ZX Spectrum, grew up in the 80s, or just love video games, this film is for you!
