Animation still – a girl sits in a forest and talks to a hedgehog

Nina and the Hedgehog's Secret – Schools Screening

Nina has always filled her imagination with her dad’s funny hedgehog stories. But when he loses his job, the stories stop, and Nina starts to worry about the future of her family. After hearing rumours of a treasure hidden by the old factory’s boss, Nina and her best friend Mehdi decide to organise a risky search, in the hope of sharing the loot between her father and his fellow coworkers. Thus begins an incredible adventure full of colour and humour.

From the team behind the Oscar-nominated A Cat in Paris (2010) and Phantom Boy (2015), comes an exquisite new animation about an intrepid young girl with a great sense of justice and love for her family.

Advisory

Insinuation of depression, mention of economic hardship, scenes that might be a bit scary for younger children (a nearly fatal fall, a dog chasing the children)

CfE: First and Second Level

Themes: Friendship, love, adventure, mystery, justice, unemployment and how this affects children, the importance of family and community, the power of imagination to cope with the real world.
