Okthanksbye – Schools Screening
Shy 12-year-old Jamie is only just starting to get settled at a boarding school for the d/Deaf when she gets an alarming message about her beloved grandmother. When her family leaves for Paris, where her grandmother lives, they tell her there’s not enough time to pick her up. But Jamie’s new friend and classmate, Imane, a rebellious 13-year-old girl, proposes they embark on a road trip on their own. And surely such a journey should be a bit adventurous?
Okthanksbye is a feelgood coming-of-age road movie that explores the way the two girls navigate friendship, the Deaf community, and the hearing world.
