Once Upon a Time in a Forest – Schools Screening

Duration: 1h33m

Finland’s coniferous forests, along with those of Sweden, act as the lungs of Europe. Despite this, some 90% of Finland’s forests are in acute danger from logging, even though scientists say forest conservation is one of the biggest things we can do to avoid biodiversity loss.

Once Upon a Time in a Forest follows a group of young activists striving to defend Finland’s forests. Ida, Minka and their friends come face to face with Finnish forest industry giants and confront generational bias. A creative documentary that immerses viewers into Finland’s breathtaking landscapes, capturing the vital work of a generation who are tirelessly fighting for a better future.

Advisory

Mild language, brief scenes of police brutality shown on archival excerpts, brief nudity, description of the effects of eco-anxiety.

Some of the best nature documentary work with a political angle I’ve ever seen… an informative film that shows the real world and its challenges to survive… probably the best documentary I’ve ever seen…
