Dyed bly fabric with white pattern

Craft Sunday: Shibori Accessories with Syrah Jay

Duration: 5h
Dates: Sun 23 Feb 2025 12:00 - 17:00
Location: Create Space

Join local textile maker Syrah Jay and learn how to make your own shibori scarf by folding, twisting and stitching fabric to create a unique piece of wearable art.

Shibori is a Japanese manual resist dyeing technique which produces patterns on fabric. Dating back to the 8th century, the most customary colour used was indigo, an intensely rich shade of blue.

As well as creating a statement scarf or piece of fabric art, you’ll also have the opportunity to make some textile jewellery using indigo dyed cord and some simple knotting techniques.

We’ll be on hand with tea, coffee and sweet treats to keep you going throughout the afternoon.
