Discovery Family Film Club: Flow

Cat is a solitary animal, but as its home is devastated by a great flood, he finds refuge on a sailboat populated by various species. Drifting aimlessly in an underwater world, the animals will learn to live with and trust each other despite their differences. 

A road movie like no other, Flow has been charming audiences and winning awards since its premiere in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard last year – including best animation feature at the European Film Awards and the Golden Globes. The dialogue-free film takes the audience on a dreamlike visual experience through lush landscapes, abandoned cities and vertiginous mountain ranges. Shot with the verve of a live action film, this second feature from Latvian self-taught animator Gints Zilbalodis (Away) is an extraordinary environmental fable, with great doses of adventure, humour and empathy.
