Tilda Swinton stars in apocalyptic musical The End, while Mr Burton stars Toby Jones as the teacher who inspired the young Richard Burton. I Am Martin Parr is a new documentary about the maverick photographer, then there’s more fun for young film fans with A Minecraft Movie and Oscar-winning animation Flow.

Classic myths and modern legends
Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche star in The Return, a retelling of scenes from Homer’s Odyssey, then a mythical beast comes to life in comedy-horror Death of a Unicorn. Two powerful vintage films – La Haine and Dundead: Picnic at Hanging Rock – are screening in 4K, and we’ve got new documentaries Neil Young: Coastal and Ernest Cole: Lost and Found.

Ryan Coogler returns with Sinners
Anticipation is high for Sinners, a historical horror from Ryan Coogler, starring Michael B. Jordan. Steve Coogan is a teacher who adopts a penguin in The Penguin Lessons, and the tender relationship between photographer Joel Meyerowitz and artist Maggie Barrett is explored in Two Strangers Trying Not To Kill Each Other.

Look out for these new films
There’s lots to look forward to for the rest of April and May, including the final operas in our Live from the Met season; The Stimming Pool, created by a collective of neurodiverse filmmakers; another fantastic Exhibition on Screen: Michelangelo: Love and Death; and this year’s exciting Dundead horror festival. Then we eagerly await the release of Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme.

DUNDEAD 2025
Thu 8 - Sun 11 May
DUNDEAD, Dundee’s dedicated horror and cult film festival, returns for its thirteenth edition. We’ve got a terrifying line-up for you, including premieres and retrospective titles celebrating Italian horror. Immerse yourself in the festival with a Full or Half Pass which includes Dundead merch, with special discounts available for DCA Members.
