New films from Fri 1 November

See what's on at DCA Cinema, including Anora, Heretic, The Room Next Door and more.

Join us this week for Anora, the winner of the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes film festival. This drama from Sean Baker (The Florida Project) follows a Brooklyn sex worker (an Oscar-tipped Mikey Madison) who impulsively marries the son of an oligarch.

For more great performances, don’t miss Heretic, a chilling thriller starring Hugh Grant. See Pedro Almodóvar’s The Room Next Door, along with documentaries Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, Exhibition on Screen: Van Gogh: Poets & Lovers and Mogwai: If the Stars Had a Sound + Q&A.

Explore the story of artist Wilhelmina Barns-Graham in A Sudden Glimpse to Deeper Things – we’ll welcome director Mark Cousins to DCA on Saturday for a post-screening Q&A. On Sunday, enjoy a celebration of celluloid, with Cinema Paradiso (35mm), Splice Here: A Projected Odyssey and Inglourious Basterds (35mm).

It’s the last weekend of Discovery Film Festival! We’re screening Shorts for Wee Ones and Families, along with animated feature Nina and the Hedgehog’s Secret and drama Sisterhood for older teens. Finally, we’ll be closing this year’s festival with poetic and empathetic documentary The Walk.. All festival tickets are Donate What You Can (£0-£8).
