Our favourite festive films
DCA staff share which films they'll be watching this Christmas
We love Christmas films! To celebrate this year's fantastic festive film programme at DCA Cinema, we asked the DCA team about their must-watch favourites. Be sure to tell us about your favourite Christmas films too – tag us on Instagram or share your Letterboxd lists.

"You can't beat a snowy, bittersweet, old black and white film during the holidays," says Val, our Exhibitions Coordinator, "I never get sick of It's A Wonderful Life and The Apartment."
Kay, also on the Exhibitions team, brings us a brand-new festive favourite for 2024: "I have been waiting all year to watch The Holdovers again – it totally captures the feeling around Christmas, and the cast of misfits is so endearing."
"I love the spectacle of White Christmas, but The Muppet Christmas Carol is unironically my favourite festive watch. The beautiful costumes and sets plus Muppet mayhem and Michael Caine in a musical late-career high… magic," says Jenny from our Comms team.
We have a few darker Christmas films on our list too. Faith from our People Team says "Die Hard – definitely a Christmas movie" while Communications Manager Meg adds "The Nightmare Before Christmas – and it is 100% a Christmas film!"
Of course, we had to expect that our Dundead programmer Michael Coull would select something deliciously dark for us –
"The 1974 Black Christmas – not only the best Christmas horror film ever made, but also one of the best and earliest examples of the slasher film, it set the template for the future of the subgenre. Come see our 50th anniversary screening this Friday 20 December."
