September films at DCA

Get ready for a great month of films at DCA Cinema.

We’ve got so many exciting new films this month, including blockbuster historical dramas Firebrand, Lee and The Critic, plus The Outrun, The Substance and more. Plus, don’t miss National Cinema Day on Sat 31 August. We’re showing a selection of new releases plus nostalgic favourites Toy Story, The Mummy (1999) and Pulp Fiction, all with the special ticket price of £4.

Fri 30 August - Thu 5 September

New films plus National Cinema Day

Don’t miss Sing Sing, inspired by a real life arts rehabilitation programme for prisoners. Cuckoo is a horror set in the German Alps, while The Mountain Within Me follows paraplegic mountaineer Ed Jackson. Tickets for these films and more will be £4 on National Cinema Day, Sat 31 August!

Henry VIII, Beetlejuice and more

Historical drama Firebrand stars Jude Law as Henry VIII, focusing on his marriage to Catherine Parr, the last of his six wives. Elsewhere, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice promises hilarious fantasy-horror, Clandestina is a look at political activism in Portugal, and there’s another chance to see Jodie Comer in NT Live: Prima Facie.

From Yorkshire to China via Tehran

Kate Winslet stars in Lee, a powerful biopic about war photographer Lee Miller. There’s stylish folk-horror in Starve Acre, based on Andrew Michael Hurley’s hit novel, then we’re off to Tehran for romantic drama My Favourite Cake. Plus, join us as we welcome harpist Aurora Engine to perform her score for 1927 silent film Xi Xiang Ji, part of the touring Mint Chinese Film Festival.

Familiar faces, new stories

Ian McKellen plays a theatre critic entangled in a web of deceit in period thriller The Critic, while Demi Moore returns to the big screen in highly-anticipated body horror The Substance, and there’s music and more in Paul McCartney and Wings – One Hand Clapping,.

Along with our August new releases, we're also screening a host of vintage films, including The Third Man, His Girl Friday, and The Big Heat - all restored in 4K. Plus, our Surrealism on Film season will begin in September  - look out for the full programme, which will be announced soon!
