We're pleased to announce Steve Grimmond as DCA's new Chair

We're pleased to announce that Steve Grimmond is to become our new Chair of Trustees.

Recently retired, Steve Grimmond has served as a Chief Executive and Senior Executive in some of the UK’s largest local authorities over the last 20 years. He has wide experience of working at the most senior levels in government, corporate and voluntary sectors in Scotland, the UK and Europe.

As CEO of Fife Council Steve drove transformational change, and working with private, public and third sector partners secured significant regional investment to deliver system-wide change. In addition to his executive roles, Steve has significant experience as a board director and trustee working with charitable organisations across the cultural and creative sectors.

Steve has extensive experience of delivering major infrastructure projects, including leading on the development of Dundee Contemporary Arts in the 1990s while working as Policy Planning Manager at Dundee City Council.  He has a strong personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and values-based leadership.

He will take up his new post in June 2024, when outgoing chair Jacquie Roberts steps down.

Beth Bate, director of DCA, said:

I'm thrilled to welcome Steve to this hugely important role at DCA, where he will oversee the governance of our organisation as we look to our next 25 years. This is a critical and uncertain time for the cultural sector, but DCA has a range of ambitious and exciting plans that I know Steve will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to, and I look forward to working with him to bring them to fruition.

Steve Grimmond said:

I have a deep connection to and affinity for DCA, having played a significant part in its creation over 25 years ago. I am passionate about the transformational power of the arts, and the importance of DCA to Dundee and its creative regeneration. The opportunity to chair this wonderful, magical organisation as it celebrates its 25th anniversary and considers its next phase of growth is both exciting and a great privilege.

We are looking forward to working with Steve to continue enriching people’s lives through art, culture, and creativity.
