DCA Print Studio x Jerwood Residency

We’re delighted to offer one early career UK artist a fully funded four-week residency based in DCA Print Studio.

Funded by Jerwood Foundation, this four-week residency is flexible, artist led and fully supported by DCA. Open to artists working in any art form, the residency is designed for those who wish to explore and expand their practice through the medium of print. 

Artists will gain access to our world-class printmaking equipment and with support from expert printmakers in our collaborative studio environment, with the aim to encourage artistic development through experimentation. 

Proposed dates can be four consecutive weeks or split over several visits - we will work with the selected applicant to create a flexible schedule based on their needs. There is also the opportunity to use DCA’s two-bedroom artist flat, self-catered and onsite.

The successful applicant will have access to 

  • Dedicated one-to-one tuition and assistance in traditional and digital printmaking, up to 84 hours from DCA Print Studio staff.
  • Free Print Studio membership during the residency with full access to equipment and resources.
  • Studio access Monday, Friday and Saturday, 10:00-17:30, and Tuesday-Thursday, 10:00-20:30. Sunday access can be arranged with notice.
  • Support to produce a public outcome. Public outcomes can include but are not limited to artist talks, studio tours, performance, exhibition and art production. Please note that DCA’s gallery spaces will not be available for exhibition use.
  • Promotion via DCA website and social media platforms through DCA’s Communications Team.
  • 10% discount on the DCA’s Get Creative printmaking courses.

In your statement please include - 

  • How the opportunity will allow you to step forward in your practice
  • The benefits that access to the studio’s printmaking equipment and dedicated technical expertise will bring to expanding your practice and building your artistic skills.
  • Any networks or sector contacts that you hope to connect with and how this will help to move forward in your career.
  • Any support you need to make the next steps following the programme to secure future opportunities and build a sustainable practice.
  • Your availability including preferred dates for the residency. Multiple options are welcome.

 

Selection will be through a panel including DCA Staff, Artists and Sector Professionals. 

Closing date for applications is Friday 20 December. Please note, the panel will not be looking at the applications until January.

About us

DCA’s Print Studio is an internationally renowned centre for innovative print production, collaboration, and research, with a diverse range of standard and specialised traditional and digital print and CNC equipment, offering open access facilities, workshops, courses, residencies, editioning and special projects. The print-based activities developed and delivered by the team engage a broad range of users including artists, community partners and members of the public, as part of DCA’s creative and cultural programme.  

The studio is in and part of Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA); a registered charity that enables audiences, artists and participants to see, experience and create.
